You're invited to Ellensburg, WA County Fairground A/C Event Center, July 11-16, 2010.
The 2010 Registration Form is available now. Choose "Carving Academy" above, and look at the instructors and their projects. The new Registration Form is NOW AVAILABLE, and you can print yourself a copy. (You'll need "Acrobat Reader". Use the link on the left to download it at no cost. It's a safe, common download.)
LODGING:
Please make your lodging decision early to get the best deal.
Quality Inn offers the Academy a room rate of $75 +tax at http://northwestcarvingacademy.lexyl.com. They have a pool. They do NOT serve breakfast. Click on the link to see many pictures, comments, map and amenities. Fill out your reservation request online.
Best Western offers the Academy a room rate of $80 + tax for a king, $90 + tax for two queens if you want to share rooms. http://book.bestwestern.com/bestwestern/productInfo.do?propertyCode=48154

Thunderbird Hotel is one mile from the Fairgrounds. They've given us an EXTENDED STAY rate of $325/week single or double occupancy, which comes out $65 + tax /night if you stay for 5 nights . (Week is Sunday night-Saturday night) Includes a continental breakfast. (509)962-5585- Must call before May 25. A lot of carvers stayed there last year and the camaraderie was the best part of the stay. I heard “No hot water,” and such but it’s a good bargain room, and they have a pool.
Super 8 has a block of double queen rooms for $75.54, with continental breakfast, if you ask for “NW Carving Academy” at 877-361-2508. Use Reference # 51187052.

RV's : There are 58 spots for Recreational Vehicles with water and power. $11.00/night, right next to the classroom building at the Fairgrounds. It’s the best deal in town.
· Two dump sites are available on the grounds.
· Tents: Some of the 58 spots are grassy, and can be used for Tent Camping. $7.00/night, and there are good restrooms, and two free shower facilities.
Ellensburg Activities:On Tuesday night we'll have a free barbecue with music by the University’s Dixieland Band who is bringing a few extra members this year. Last year we loved the Tuba, Banjo and Vocalist. On Thursday night we’ll have the raffle drawing and Talent Show…plan your act now!
www.visitellen.com tell the constant stream of visitor events in Ellensburg, WA, with lots of contacts. Also, the Fairgrounds have several equestrian events free to watch at their excellent new arena during our week.
ACTIVITIES for Spouses and Non-Carvers: Darlene Van DeWitt offers a wonderful quilting class to make a Christmas wall hanging, with a tour of local quilt shops. Contact her: vandar01@charter.net
Ceramics: Gallery One Ceramics, at 408 N. Pearl St. will let us make ceramics. A 2 hour party is $10 per person, and we make various items which are then fired in the kiln and ready to pick up in 24 hours. Scrapbooking: "Paper Moon and Stars" will bring all the materials and tools, and we can make three cards for $10.00. We will have two sessions of this class. Beads: The bead shop will offer several classes. We'll have two sessions each to make bead earrings, and two classes in "Wire Wrapping" to make pendants out of the gorgeous little stones and shells or agates you might have picked up. They also will provide all materials. Cost is $10 per class. Swimming: The classroom building is across the parking lot from the Public Swim Pool that offers all kinds of swimming sessions, and exercise sessions during the week.
